Ruptured and Herniated Discs
LEBANON RUPTURED AND HERNIATED DISC ATTORNEYS
A herniated disc, sometimes called a ruptured disc, results when a damaged intervertebral disc has a tear in the outer covering and releases gel like material which can compromise or compress the spinal nerve or spinal canal. A herniated disc is also sometimes called a "slipped" or "protruded" disc. Herniated disc can be the result of direct injuries, such as a car wreck or a fall. If you are injured in a car wreck, truck wreck, motorcycle wreck, or a fall and have a herniated disc, the insurance company may try to blame your injuries on pre-existing, age-related wear and tear. Age related changes are called Degenerative Disc Disease. Tennessee law permits an injured person to recover for aggravation of pre-existing conditions. Even if you have pre-existing Degenerative Disc Disease it is possible to recover for the additional injury caused by the wreck or fall. A herniated disc is a serious injury and can cause severe symptoms of nerve injury. Treatment can include surgical and non-surgical options.
