Nerve Injury
LEBANON NERVE INJURY ATTORNEYS
The peripheral nerves control sensation and voluntary muscle movement. There are many ways nerves can be injured as a result of injury caused by negligence. Nerve injuries can occur whenever there is direct injury to the nerve either by compression, stretching or tearing. A crush injury or a displaced bone can cause disruption of the nerve cells. In the mildest type injury, the nerve remains intact and there is a temporary loss of motor and sensory function. More severe injury can occur in a crush injury or when a nerve is displaced by a bone fracture causing injury to the nerve fibers. An EMG/Nerve Conduction Study can document the injury. There is a possibility for the nerve to slowly recover without permanent injury. The worst type of injury can cause death to the nerve and the nerve cannot heal. Surgery may help in very limited cases. Car wrecks, truck wrecks, motorcycle wrecks, other traumas, lacerations and or injuries during surgeries can all cause nerve injuries. If you have any type of abnormal sensation or function after an injury, you should immediately seek medical attention.
